Loro Park

This zoo has a beautiful tropical setting with 4,000 parrots, exotic animals and dolphin shows.

The 135,000 m² park is located in the holiday resort town of Puerto de la Cruz and had around 40 million visitors since its opening. As the name suggests (loro = parrot), the zoo is home to 350 different species of parrots, making it the largest parrot collection in the world. Many of these species can only be seen in zoos, making it a mecca for researchers.

The park also hosts daily shows with dolphins, killer whales, seals and parrots.

Also a very spectacular element is the 18.5 metre shark tunnel, where piranhas and colourful fishes swim directly overhead alongside shark species.
